Types of Appliances

Most of the orthodontic appliances worn by our patients are fabricated in our in-house lab. Our lab techs have almost 70 years of combined experience and use their creative skills to design awesome retainers.

Having an in-house lab empowers us to create custom appliances with a short turnaround; some retainers can even be made while you wait!

Palatal Expander

The palatal expander “expands” or widens your upper jaw. Dr. Aron will instruct you about when and how to adjust your expander.

Retainers are used after braces to hold your teeth in their correct alignment while the surrounding gums, bone, and muscle adjust to the new positioning of your teeth.

Traditional Retainers

Traditional removable retainers include a metal wire that surrounds your front teeth and is attached to an acrylic arch that sits in the roof of the mouth.

Aligner Style Retainers

Aligner-style retainers, or Essix retainers, look similar to clear aligners and offer a more aesthetic alternative to wire retainers.

A MagneTainer is a state-of-the-art fixed and flossable retainer. The MagneTainer is glued to the back of your teeth with dental adhesive and uses attractive forces to allow the teeth to function naturally while maintaining their treated position. MagneTainers are the patented device of Drs. Gene and Aron Dellinger and are currently available only at Orthodontic Specialty Services.
